Evening with Social Media Club Dallas at BuzzShift | @smcdallas @BuzzShift
Social Media Club Dallas’ August meeting was hosted by Buzzshift at Mockingbird Station. It was a great evening made complete with Neo Pizzeria as food sponsor. It was my first SMC Dallas meeting apart from the Happy Hour at Quarter Bar last month. I knew this would be an interesting evening and a great way to network and meeting new people.
As always for me, I wasn’t sure what to expect. So I threw my self in head first and offered to volunteer setting up and registering attendees for the event. I was definitely impressed with Buzzshift. Enviously located at Mockingbird Station, the office decor reflects the next generation digital hive services offered. I was excited when the elevators opened to the fifth floor.
I was instantly greeted by Cynthia Smoot. Full of energy, she briefed me on what we were to do as volunteers and how the evening was to come along. I was comforted by familiar faces from The Quarter Bar get together. SMC Dallas t-shirts for sale, name tags for attendees ready. We were ready for the night to begin.
As the guests poured, I spent time checking registration and introducing myself and talking to people as well. It was great. Neo’s Pizza catered the evening as the food sponsor. What a delight. There was a multitude of pizza and sandwiches for everyone. The food could not have been more fitting for such an event. Quickly, Buzzshift was crowded and it was time to begin.
How to Make My Social Media Life Easier?
Elyse Rice introduced herself and welcomed everyone. The first speaker was Eddy Badrina on “Social Media Strategy and Objectives.”
The next speaker was Colin Alsheimer on the topic “Creating a Social Media Listening Station.”
The third speaker of the night was Mike D. Merrill whose topic was “Social Media Measurement and ROI.”

Andy, nice shots! What kind of camera do you use for the wide angle and panorama?
Thanks! I use a Sony Cybershot DSC-TX 7 camera
Andy – thanks for volunteering and taking photos! Glad you enjoyed the event!
Andy – this is a great summary, both in words and in pics! I’m glad you were able to come out, and I look forward to seeing you at the next SMC event, or at Buzzshift’s weekly Open Office Hours.
Great report on a Great Club meeting.
There are several different social media groups meeting all over the metroplex but SMC Dallas is of the highest quality when it comes to speakers and community value. Aaron Strout, Jason Falls and last weeks triple header have been the most valuable for me so far. Great pictures and write-up Andy. I hope your able to do more in the future.
SMC runs so smoothly because of volunteers like you! Thank you so much for helping out. I loved your recap and look forward to seeing you next month for the Scott Stratten event on September 14 – where SMC/Dallas will be celebrating it’s one year anniversary!
