Evening of The Big Quarter Bar Social | @TheQuarterBar

Socializing at The Quarter Bar in Uptown

Last Thursday, The Quarter Bar was gracious enough to host this months social event at their upstairs bar.

The Quarter Bar in Uptown

Located in the trendy Uptown district of Dallas, the bar has the look and feel of an authentic New Orleans French Quarter bar. With the decor of old world New Orleans, The Quarter Bar boasts and wonderful spacious upstairs lounge with a great outdoor patio upstairs with views of McKinney Ave.

The drinks are strong and the food is great. Happy Hour is from 5pm to 10pm daily so the drinks were cheap and stiff. The bartenders are friendly and even willing to share a laugh or two with you. The pub menu is delicious and is indicative of the management also running Bread Winners Cafe next door. You’ll be pleased that the waitress is attentive and  approachable.

This location brings in a mixture of 20-30 something crowd and everyone is friendly, laid back and willing to chat. Social Media Club Dallas held a Happy Hour at Quarter Bar and I thought it would be a great place for my September networking social.

Marshall Hymel and I wait for guests to arrive.

As we waited for guests to arrive, Marsh and I relaxed and decided to try The Quarter Bar’s popular spiked popsicles. These were great. Marsh had blueberry and I had pineapple.  As we enjoyed out treat I realized that bringing my iPad to show off was rather inconvenient since I would have to be toting it everywhere. However, I was eager to show everyone the innovative apps Flipbook and Pulse News which stream your news and twitter feeds.

Spacious enough for a gathering.

As guests arrived, it was wonderful to see some of the same friends and to meet new people who I had only seen on twitter or briefly met at Social Media Club Dallas or other events.

The conversation was definitely enlightening from the meaning of SEO to innovative ways to bring employers and recruiters to social media and to leverage this medium to their benefit.

Business cards were passed and we enjoyed Happy Hour. I enjoy bringing new people together to network and socialize. It’s rewarding to see new connections in Dallas where each social media enthusiasts and find common ground and discover that each and provide something new and mutually beneficial.

I am eager for next month’s social and I’d like to once again thank The Quarter Bar Uptown for hosting this event.
